A place where time seems to stop Mystras is one of the most exciting and dramatic historical parts of the Peloponnese. A deliciously cool place nestled at the foot of 280 meters of Taygetos. The lush slope of the hill is a remarkable Byzantine city that once housed a population of about 20,000 and is now accessible for walking. Helicic streets drive through monumental gates, pass through medieval houses and palaces, and especially in churches, some of which present wonderful, though faded, frescoes.
